Fallacious reasoning, context switching, and externalization are three currently popular methods for the bamboozlement and theft of your free and clear thinking, choice, and action.
Fallacious reasoning can be used to advance any agenda or idea – as a computer virus steals the control of a computer, fallacious reasoning steals your free and clear thinking and manipulates your otherwise free choice and free action. Like a virus stealing a computer, fallacious reasoning steals you. As your free and clear unmuddled thinking is actually being stolen, fallacious reasoning is a form of violence, particularly when done on purpose.
Context switching occurs when someone alters the original context of a question, statement, discussion, whatever, while maintaining the focus of the interaction/discussion. Covert or unacknowledged context switches are generally an easier form of bamboozlement than fallacious reasoning since ‘the-reasoning-part’ is probably where one’s focus is placed while the context is left unexamined. As with slight-of-hand magic tricks, it is the unwatched hand that is out of focus, that is part of the context, which can be more easily manipulated. As your free and clear unmuddled thinking is again being stolen, covert context switching is a form of violence, particularly when done on purpose.
Externalization by an individual or a community is the casting onto another ones own negative characteristics in an attempt to avoid being identified has having the same. It is an attempt to shift of focus away from oneself onto someone or something else. Similar to the slight-of-hand magic trick, the huckster practicing personal externalization is trying to befuddle your free and clearing thinking and hide within themselves that which they suspect you are sensing in them. As your free and clear unmuddled thinking is actually being stolen, personal externalization is a form of violence, particularly when done on purpose.
Externalization by a corporation is the rejection of the consideration of certain costs, usually by silently ignoring them, resulting in someone else having to pay such costs. A corporation that in order to be more profitable or successful that pollutes the air or water without truthful and accurate mitigation is stealing the common good. And even with truthful and accurate mitigation it can still be theft in that clean air and water is simply not the corporation’s right to take. Regardless of why, degrading the ecology by externalizing the value of the loss of the ecology is theft. As your free and clear unmuddled thinking is again being stolen even as the common good, the ecology of the planet – the context in which we all live that enables you to read this – corporate externalization is a form of double violence, particularly when done on purpose.
How can one tell when one is being befuddled, bamboozled – when there is theft of your free and clear thinking, choice, and action?
- Practice spotting fallacious reasoning. Maybe visit School of Thought and download a poster ($1 US donation optional).
- Be careful – mindful and not mindless – with anger – both your own and someone else’s. Practice a third-way response to anger and not just fight or flight – get motivated and root down into greater awareness and use anger to manifest greater right action instead of simply manifesting more anger. Do this. And if one does get angry, direct the anger at one’s own anger and not at yourself or others or anything at all – direct it at itself so to self extinguish it. Try it. Anger’s self extinguishment reveals greater awareness. Remembering to slowly breath helps when self extinguishing anger.

Greater self awareness eventually leads to the realization that all sentient beings are just separate manifestations of the same thing. The awareness that is in us, that is us, is the same. In the transcendent dimension we are beautifully the same while we are beautifully separate in the time and space dimension. But even though this is so – that all Human Beings have the same spark of the Divine – some act in not very aware – conscious – mindful ways.
